IN THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

SPEND TIME WITH US IN TARBERT

Our distillery can be found in the heart of the Isle of Harris, a small Outer Hebridean island off the far north-west of Scotland.

In a harbour village, just yards from the waters of East Loch Tarbert, a white and copper-clad building holds a family of local men and women dedicated to making beautiful island spirits with pride and provenance.

Inside, our fire is lit on colder days, welcoming visitors and reflecting a tradition of warmth and hospitality shaped by the generations who have gone before us. Even when the fire is resting, the hearth remains a place of warmth, carried by the people who gather around it.

Our doors are open to all, six days a week, with a true island welcome awaiting those who take the long road to see us.

Hear our stories, sample our spirits, shop for exclusive local wares, enjoy a drink and relax among friends.

Isle of Harris experiences

All great experiences begin with a gathering.

Here on Harris we call it a cèilidh.

A coming together to share stories, spirit and good company.

Join us in our home and be part of a Harris cèilidh.

In a guided experience you will discover the craft and character of the spirits we make on the island.

Along the way you will step into parts of the distillery where they are brought to life.

Afterwards, take your time in the spaces around the distillery and continue your experience with us.

Experiences will run from 30 March through to the end of October.

  • Scenic view of a coastal town with houses and mountains under a clear blue sky. The Harris Distiller is in the middle of this

    Harris Distillery Experience

    £50 per person

Our signature Isle of Harris Experience brings together both of the spirits we make here in Tarbert. Gin and whisky. Sea and island. Two paths shaped by the same place and the same people.

This 75 minute experience explores the stories, ingredients and craft behind both spirits, beginning with Isle of Harris Gin before moving to our single malt whisky. Along the way you will step into our stillroom and see where both spirits are born.

Our story is best contemplated slowly. As the experience draws to a close, we invite you to take your time here at the distillery and savour the moment.

  • Bottle of Hebrach whisky on a wooden counter with framed pictures on the wall.

    Whisky experience

    £35 per person

Our Isle of Harris Whisky Experience explores the journey of our island spirit from still to cask.

This 30 minute experience introduces a selection of Isle of Harris Single Malt whiskies, each revealing a different path our spirit has taken through maturation. You will also step into our stillroom and see where the spirit of Isle of Harris Whisky is born.

Whisky rewards patience. As the guided experience draws to a close, we invite you to take your time here at the distillery and savour your drams at your own pace.

  • A bottle of Harris gin with a glass of gin and tonic beside it sitting on a sand dune with the sea behind it

    GIN Experience

    £35 per person

Our Isle of Harris Gin Experience explores the botanicals and coastal character of the spirit we distil here in Tarbert.

This 30 minute experience introduces the ingredients and craft behind Isle of Harris Gin, including sugar kelp hand harvested from the surrounding sea lochs. You will taste Isle of Harris Gin and our Tidal Strength expression before choosing your favourite to enjoy as a classic Harris serve with Walter Gregor’s tonic, grapefruit and ice.

Gin is made for sharing. As the guided experience draws to a close, we invite you to relax here at the distillery and continue the moment with us.
